Artworks by Daiki Kimoto

Daiki Kimoto’s paintings and performances are delicated to the perception of time and memory. In the performance“Like a River”, the artist uses brushes and brooms that are mounted together to slowly draw a 10-meter-long line of different colored paints on the canvas, which is lying on the floor. The paints mix and flow into one another. The visitors are invited to participate in the painting process. The actions,
dimensions, and timelines of the performative work are subject to a fixed set of rules. Repetitive and ever identical sequences of movement inform Kimoto’s artistic approach.
“Like a river” that both divides and connects, steadily
forging its way while it is subject to continuous movement and change, the chance application of paint characterizes the creation of this picture.
